Blogger Recognition Award

Hey everyone! I hope all of you are looking forward to the weekend (because the weekend is the best, seriously, I need a break, but I’ll just probably be doing more school *cries*)

But it probably won’t

Anyway, I was nominated for another blogging award, which is so nice! I really enjoy doing these. This time around I was nominated by Leah and tsteely, both incredible bloggers and writers. I’m very glad to have befriended them this year, and their blogs are both super cool.

Le Rules:

1. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

2. Write a post to show your award. Attach the logo to your post.

3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.

In a world, long ago, there was a prophecy that decreed one teenage writer was to create a poetry blog, where she would write anything that came to her mind in a kind-of-poetic-way to save mankind.

Just kidding LOL, but I wish the real story would be just as neat. Really, I kind of mentioned it before in another post, but the blog was started mostly for NaPoWriMo back in late March 2015. The challenge is to write 30 poems, a poem a day for the entire month of April. I like being official (who doesn’t though?) and because the challenge was less sophisticated, the only way you could kind of show people you were participating was to link your blog to the website. Well, I didn’t have a blog. How does one even run a blog?

But I thought it would be a great way to just put my poetry somewhere else other than a file on my desktop. Truthfully a concrete way of becoming a better writer is to share your writing with others, and  the responses I have been getting so far on this blog have encouraged me–kind of crucial when none of my friends at home are writerly people.

It’s expanded to other things now, but that’s kind of how “Grace’s Poetry Blog” came about. It’s been a blessing to make new friends and share my interests and writing with others! Oh, and if any of you want to know why my url is “pensandcastlesonacloud” is because I created the blog when my sister was learning “Castle on a Cloud” from Le Mis.

4. Give a piece of advice to new bloggers.

There’s a few things: I’ve learned that it’s important to just keep posting on your blog, even if you don’t have any readers yet. Soon it will catch someone’s eye, but don’t be upset if you don’t have any followers for the first few weeks, or even months. It all takes time. Like Leah said, interaction is another thing. Reach out to other bloggers, comment on posts you like. You’ll get there 🙂

EDIT: I also mean to say that you shouldn’t worry about the content of your posts. This is your blog, and those who are attracted to what you have to say will come 🙂

5. Select 10 other blogs to give the award to.

If you’ve already been tagged, super sorry!

If you weren’t tagged but would like to do the award, go right ahead! You can say I nominated you 😉 Of course, never feel like you’re obligated to do these tags, so y’all don’t have to if you’d rather not.

Thank you again, Leah and tsteely! I appreciate it. (Go check out their lovely blogs. That’s an order!)

  1. Thanks so much for the nomination, Grace! I love doing awards and tags so I’m pretty excited! 🙂 (and I just realized that my WordPress username is the only one that isn’t an actual name. XD I might need to change that…) Also, the advice was pretty good. I noticed that it helps a lot to post often too. 😉
    Thanks again! ❤

    • Yay and don’t worry about it! I know other bloggers where their username isn’t an actual name (like my own for example xD) I like WizePuppy ^^
Yeah inactivity can be the reason why you don’t have people reading your blog xD In the summer I didn’t post at all, and my August statistics show me I had zero views that month!
You’re welcome, I’m glad to have found your blog!
